Roger Cador took over as coach of Southern's baseball team in 1985, and now 28 years later he is finally getting a facility at Lee Hines Field with locker rooms and batting cages.
The $1.4 million complex will also have offices for coaches and a clubhouse for players.
The ceremonial groundbreaking took place Wednesday morning. The facility is expected to be ready in January before the Jags 2014 season.
This will mean the end of the Jags using the space under the overpass that leads to campus for batting practice after all those years.
