CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

As the regular season approaches the Cincinnati Bengals are making some changes to their roster.

WR Andrew Hawkins has been places on the Reserve/Injured list due to an Aug. 1  ankle injury. Hawkins will be eligible to play as early as week  7, depending on the Bengals plans and his condition  he may return by game 9.

Last season Hawkins had 4 touchdowns, 533 receiving yards and 51 receptions. He averaged 10.5 yards per carry.  Finishing second among the Bengals WR in two categories his ineligibility will be noticed.

Due to Hawkins injury The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed free agent OT Dennis Roland. Roland has been with the for the Bengals since 2009 and all of this seasons pre-season games. He has logged 68 games and 31 starts in his 6 years in the NFL. After being released on Aug. 31, Roland has rejoined the squad to fill in the void left by Hawkins.

The Bengals have also made some adjustments to their practice squad by signing QB Greg McElroy. With 3 years experience in the NFL, McElroy was waived by the N.Y. Jets this past Monday with an injury settlement due to a knee injury.  McElroy passed 11-19 for 145 with one TD and no INTs in the 2012-2013 season.
