BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police are searching for a suspected rapist in a crime from over a decade ago and they are asking for the public's help in finding him.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Randy Jackson, 32, is wanted for aggravated rape.

Investigators said the rape happened in December 2002 and is now considered a cold case.

According to detectives, Jackson forced a woman at gunpoint into an abandoned home on Hemlock Street near the BREC Madison Avenue Park and raped her.

Police reported evidence collected at the time was sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab but failed to identify a suspect.

However, investigators said they recently resubmitted the evidence to the crime lab and Jackson was named as the suspect.

He is 6' 1" and weighs about 190 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867 or text CS225 and a message to 274637.
