BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It seems Louisiana public schools are moving in the right direction when it comes to technology, but some educators are still concerned schools won't be ready when new online tests begin next year.
The state Department of Education requires one computer for every seven students. The department recently announced more than 86 percent of public school students attend a school that provides easy access to computers.
In East Baton Rouge, the ratio is even higher at three to one. But, there are still more than 20 school districts that don't meet the minimum requirement. No student should be left behind due to a lack of technology.
We urge the state to find a way to help those districts still struggling so that all Louisiana students have an opportunity to be better prepared for life in the 21st century.
