Investigators say argument in car leads to deadly crash

SLIDELL, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police said a Mississippi woman died on I-10 in Louisiana Monday evening after grabbing the steering wheel, while her husband was driving, causing them to crash.

The victim was identified as Lauren Gregor, 25, of Gautier, MS. The wreck happened on I-10 East at the US 190/Fremaux Avenue exit in Slidell just after 8:30 p.m.

Troopers said the victim's husband, Cody Rafter, 24, was driving when the two got into an argument. They reported Gregor grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it to the right.

Investigators said her action caused the car to veer off the roadway and flip. They added she was not properly buckled at the time. According to reports, she was thrown out of the car and got trapped under it once it stopped.

Gregor was taken to Ochsner Northshore Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Rafter suffered minor injuries. Troopers said he was wearing his seatbelt.

They added they do not suspect impairment was a factor, but per protocol for deadly crashes have submitted blood samples for analysis.
