Road rage victim shot twice in gas station parking lot

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened around 12:45 p.m. at the Chevron gas station on Airport Road in Hammond, LA.

Reports say 39-year-old Adam Weedman of Ponchatoula and 31-year-old Jeremy Seth Cook of Springfield, were involved in a road rage incident on Interstate 12.

The suspect, Cook, followed the victim, Weedman, off the interstate into the Chevron parking lot. The suspect got out of his vehicle and confronted Weedman, starting an argument.

Daniel Edwards reports that the sheriff's office is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 12:45PM today at the Chevron gas station on Airport Rd.

Cook went back to his vehicle and armed himself with an handgun and fired at Weedman, striking him in the leg.

Weedman was able to disarm the suspect, but while doing so, the gun inadvertently went off and Weedman was shot in the hand.

Weedman is currently undergoing surgery at NOMC for his injuries. He is reported in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Cook faces second degree battery charges. Additional charges may be filed. The case is still ongoing.
