BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - For many Americans, Labor Day weekend is a chance to go on that last-minute vacation to relax and celebrate the end of summer. This year will see the largest number of travelers since 2009, as AAA expects over 34 million Americans to hit the road this weekend.
Although a growing number of Americans are choosing to fly, 85 percent will reach their destination by car. If you are traveling by car this Labor Day weekend, we urge you to drive carefully and observe the rules of the road.
Please remember to always wear a seatbelt and follow the speed limit. These are simple guidelines for your safety and the last thing anybody wants is a tragedy to strike during a holiday.
Labor Day is supposed to be a well-earned celebration for America's workforce and by driving carefully, you can help make it a safer holiday for everyone. Whether or not you'll be on the road this weekend, we wish you a safe and happy Labor Day weekend.
