Man charged with negligent homicide after motorcycle crash

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man was arrested and charged with negligent homicide and failure to yield after a Thursday morning crash involving a motorcycle.

It happened around 6 a.m. in the 18000 block of Petroleum Drive. According to East Baton Rouge Parish officials, 61-year-old James Dunn of Gonzales, LA was traveling east on his motorcycle on Petroleum Drive when 24-year-old Jerrick Treyon Sim pulled his vehicle out of a business driveway to go westbound.

Reports say Sim entered Dunn's lane of travel and Dunn's motorcycle hit the back of Sim's vehicle. Dunn was ejected. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Sim was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Deputies do not suspect impairment of either driver.
