USS Kidd celebrates 30th anniversary in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Tuesday marks the 30th anniversary of a key piece of the Baton Rouge riverfront.

The USS Kidd, known as the "Pirate of the Pacific," opened its doors in Baton Rouge on August 27, 1983 and is the centerpiece of a memorial that honors the men and women of the US armed forces.

To celebrate the anniversary, admission to the Kidd and its museum is free Tuesday. It opens at 9 a.m.
