BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A federal judge warned a group of lawyers Friday that big cuts could cut into justice.
Federal District Court Chief Judge Brian Jackson issued the warning at the Federal Bar Association annual luncheon. The judge says they will have less people who look after criminals who are eventually put on probation. If you have to sue someone in federal court, you may have to wait a while to see justice.
"We would hope that you all would join us in urging the members of Congress to be mindful of this public safety component if nothing else. But again this is a severe crisis," said Judge Jackson.
They also introduced the newest federal judge to our area; Judge Shelly Dick. She pledged to work hard on the federal bench.
