Sentencing hearing underway for teen who killed 8-year-old boy

ST. FRANCISVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

A 19-year-old who pleaded guilty in the 2010 murder of an 8-year-old is in court to learn his punishment.

A sentencing hearing is underway in St. Francisville for Trevor Reese. He is facing life in prison. Reese pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March. He was 16 at the time of the murder.

Reese admitted to killing Jackson Attuso of Clinton in a West Feliciana Parish subdivision on June 10, 2010. The little boy's throat was slashed.

Sentencing for Reese was delayed until after the Louisiana Legislative Session.

Reese has been held in the West Feliciana Parish Prison since his arrest on the day of the murder.

According to authorities, Reese stabbed Attuso to death while the young boy was riding his bike through the woods with his mother.

Despite a sentence of 40 years to life, the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency voted to release him from prison into home arrest. Family members of the victims are concerned for the safety of the community, as are new members of the Clemency Board. CBS 5 Investigates videotaped Huff riding a bike through his Tucson neighborhood. There are no restrictions placed on his proximity to children.
