SCHRIEVER, LA (WAFB) - Deputies said a woman faces a manslaughter charge after being arrested in the shooting death of her ex-husband.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office reported Crystal Welch, 30, of Schriever, shot and killed Chade Welch, 33, of Welch, Wednesday night.

Deputies said Crystal Welch contacted them around 11:05 p.m. to report shooting her ex-husband inside her home. However, investigators said Chade Welch's body was found on the ground in the driveway.

They added he had what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Welch was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives reported Crystal Welch told them her ex-husband showed up at her home and an argument turned physical. They said she then admitted to shooting him twice in the chest with a handgun.

According to Welch, her two children were inside the home at the time of the incident.

Welch was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex for one count of manslaughter. Her bond was not yet set.

Officials said an autopsy is scheduled for Friday at the Jefferson Parish Forensic Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
