Two alleged meth dealers arrested in Gonzales

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

Two Lafayette residents were arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling meth to undercover cops.

According to reports, narcotics detectives bought drugs from Michael Musser, 32, and Theressa Cowart, 22, in the parking lot of a business in Gonzales.  After detectives made the purchase, they tried to make a traffic stop.  Deputies were able to stop and arrest the pair after a short chase.

Investigators say they found a loaded handgun in Cowart's waistband, and meth, marijuana and other drugs inside the car.

Musser has been charged with distribution of meth, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of possession of a legend drug, possession of schedule IV CDS, resisting by flight and resisting an officer.  Musser was released from Angola Prison in 2009 after serving 12 years for armed robbery.

Cowart has been charged with distribution of meth, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of possession of a legend drug, possession of schedule IV CDS, illegal carrying of a weapon and resisting an officer.
