BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - During the eventful evening Tuesday at the Capital Area Transit System board meeting, there was a mention that the Feds could ask for their grant money back from the CATS bus system. This comes after details leaked of charter trips involving CATS buses and CATS employees.
During the Tuesday evening meeting, CEO Bob Mirabito admitted certain Federal Transit Administration rules were violated on those trips and employees were involved. Mirabito says he and his staff are pulling documents and hand-delivering a package to the feds in Texas to review.
He says the Federal Transit Administration could penalize the system and ask for repayment of any grant funds associated with the trips. The trips allegedly happened under former CEO Brian Marshall last December.
