TERREBONNE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A sheriff's deputy finds himself on the other side of the law after getting arrested for allegedly touching a woman inappropriately while investigating a report she made to authorities.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office reported Marlin Meeks is charged with sexual battery and malfeasance in office.
Investigators said a woman contacted the sheriff's office Wednesday evening for help after being involved in a disturbance Tuesday night.
They added Meeks responded to the call and according to the woman, he touched her in an improper way during questioning. According to reports, he left after she denied his advances and she called the sheriff's office to report what happened.
Deputies said Meeks admitted to the accusations when questioned about the incident. He was then fired and arrested. Officials said he was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and issued a recognizance bond due to safety concerns.
TPSO said Meeks is a three-year veteran of the sheriff's office and worked in the patrol division.
