BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said a traffic stop early Wednesday morning ended in the arrest of two men, one of them wanted for attempted murder.

Louisiana State Police reported Montrell Sanders, 29, of Baton Rouge, and Thomas White, 26, of Baton Rouge, were taken into custody.

According to troopers, White was driving a car that was pulled over for speeding on Florida Boulevard at Monterrey Boulevard around 1 a.m. Investigators said Sanders had no identification on him, but did have an open container of alcohol.

They said they later learned his name and that he was wanted by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office on an outstanding warrant for two counts of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Both men were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

LSP added the EBRSO Homicide Division was notified of Sanders' arrest.
