Anonymous tip leads to arrest in credit card theft

AMELIA, LA (WAFB) - Two arrests were made in a credit card theft investigation led by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office on Friday morning, August 9.

Erial Lightfoot, 30, and Peyton Johnson Jr., 34 of Amelia, La. were taken into custody after admitting to deputies that they were involved in the use of a stolen credit card at two stores located in Bayou Vista and Morgan City.

Detectives received an anonymous tip that helped them identify the suspects. They believed Lightfoot and Johnson had information about a credit card which was taken from a wallet that had been reported missing.

Lightfoot and Johnson were asked by SMPSO to come in for questioning, and then later admitted to using the victim's credit card.

Both have been charged with credit card theft. Lightfoot is also charged with theft for taking the wallet.

No bond is set.

Lightfoot and Johnson were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration.
