Deputies find meth and other drugs inside home

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - Deputies said they found meth, a little bit of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a gun when they searched a home Tuesday.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reported the items were found in a Denham Springs home after permission for the search was given.

Dustin Hood, 32, of Denham Springs, and Derek Acosta, 30, of Baton Rouge, were arrested. Hood lives at the home.

Narcotics agents said they found 120 grams of methamphetamine worth $14,400 on the streets. They did not specify how much marijuana was discovered. They only said it was a small amount.

Hood was booked on the following charges:

Possession of methamphetamine

Possession of marijuana

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Possession of a firearm by convicted felon

Theft of animals (outstanding warrant)

His bond was set at $50,030, which he posted Wednesday and was released.

Acosta faces charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000. Officials said he remained in the Livingston Parish Detention Center as of Thursday night.

The Denham Springs Police Department and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office assisted in the search of the home.
