BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Detectives said three men have been arrested in connection with a drug-related shooting that left a man dead Friday.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Darren Paul, 20, and Julius Thomas, 23, both of Baton Rouge, were arrested Tuesday. A picture of Paul was not provided. Jarvis Fleming, 21, of Greenwell Springs, was arrested Friday. They are all charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Donald Walls, 26.
The shooting happened at a trailer park on Greenwell Street in Baton Rouge around 8 p.m. Friday. According to reports, Fleming drove Thomas and Paul to the trailer park for a drug deal.
Deputies said the trio met with Walls to sell him drugs, but investigators believe Paul pulled a gun and fired at Walls before the deal was done and Walls shot back. Both men were hit by bullets.
EBRSO said deputies patrolling the area heard the gunshots and responded to the area. Walls was already dead when they arrived on the scene. Investigators said they later learned Fleming drove Paul to the hospital and dropped him off.
They added Fleming removed the GPS monitoring device on his ankle and threw it away to avoid being caught. However, deputies later found him. In addition to first-degree murder, he is charged with tampering with electronic monitor.
Paul remains hospitalized with serious injuries, but they are not considered life-threatening.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
