HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -

A Hammond man has been arrested for shooting a 20-year-old in the leg Sunday.

According to reports, the victim and his sister were standing outside an apartment on Happywoods Rd. when a maroon vehicle pulled up beside them.  Travon Pitts, 25, was sitting in the passenger seat and made several comments to the victim's sister and the victim responded to Pitts.

Pitts then allegedly pulled a handgun, fired several shots at the victim, hitting him once in the leg.

An unknown woman was driving the maroon vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and released.

Pitts was arrested early Monday morning by the Livingston Sheriff's Office on unrelated charges.  He has been charged with second degree battery in the shooting case.
