Sheriff's deputies make arrest in drug deal shooting

GREENWELL SPRINGS, LA(WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Detectives have made an arrest in a shooting that happened during a drug deal gone bad.

Detectives responded to reports of shots fired around 8:00 pm Friday night at a trailer park in the 7100 block of Greenwell Street.  Donald Ray Walls, 26, was found with gunshot wounds. He was taken from the scene and later was pronounced dead.

Jarvis Fleming, 21, of Greenwell Springs has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder and Tampering with Electronic Monitor.  According to reports, Fleming drove two other men to the trailer park to conduct a drug transaction with Walls.  At some point during the transaction, one of the men with Fleming pulled out a gun and began shooting at Walls.  Fleming's second passenger also suffered gunshot wounds.  Fleming took him to the hospital and dropped him off, then discarded his GPS monitoring ankle bracelet to avoid being caught.

This investigation is ongoing, other arrests are pending.
