ST. MARY PARISH, LA (WAFB) - A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered to anyone who volunteers information that leads to the arrest and conviction in a vandalism case.
There were two acts of vandalism on the Atchafalalya Delta Wildlife Management Area. The Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division along with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff Office are investigating.
On July 24, the LDWF staff noticed equipment was missing on the Big Island portion of the Atchafalaya Delta WMA. The LDWF was missing a bulldozer and a utility vehicle, but the staff later found the equipment that night.
The bulldozer was buried in mud and water up to its floorboard, and the utility vehicle was found stuck in a ditch.The equipment was vandalized between July 19 and July 24- when it was last noticed to be missing.
The total damage done to the equipment and the costs to retrieve both pieces are unknown at this time. The Big Island is only accessible by vessel.
