ETHEL, LA (WAFB) - One of four suspects arrested after a woman was killed has been found guilty of murder.
Kendale Scott, 27, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Katherine Hartman, 58, of Ethel.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 20. A second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence.
The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office reported Hartman was reported missing on June 25, 2012. The EFPSO thinks she was likely killed at her home the previous day.
Phone calls after she went missing led deputies to get a search warrant for her home on Highland Drive in Ethel. While executing that warrant, deputies learned Hartman's body was dumped at a vacant house on Lane Drive. Her body was found in the yard.
Lisa Keller, 35, Naomi Wheat, 21, and Shedrick Law, 24, are each charged with accessory after the fact. Keller is Hartman's daughter.
They have not yet gone to trial, but two of the three have reportedly entered plea deals.
The trial for the third suspect is scheduled at a later date.
