HENDERSON, LA (WAFB) - A Texas man is in jail on drug charges after authorities said nearly 50 pounds of marijuana was seized during a traffic stop on I-10 in Louisiana.

Louisiana State Police said Myvar Abdullah, 35, of Manvel, TX, faces a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Troopers reported pulling over a 2013 Nissan Maxima on I-10 East near the Henderson/Cecilia exit in St. Martin Parish around 2:45 a.m. They said they got suspicious during the stop and asked to search the car, but Abdullah refused to give permission.

Officials reported K-9 "Shockey" with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office sniffed around the car and signaled narcotics were inside the car. A search of the vehicle later turned up about 46 pounds of marijuana in a duffel bag in the trunk.

Abdullah was booked into the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office. Bond information was not provided.

The investigation is ongoing.
