Judge rules no injunction on Pointe Coupee road tax

NEW ROADS, LA (WAFB) - A judge in Pointe Coupee did not issue an injunction for a proposed millage tax.

New Roads Mayor Robert Myer sued the parish over the parish-wide road tax, saying the size of the city and the fact that it has it's own roads program should make residents exempt.

Reports earlier today said jurors proposed a compromise to allow 25 percent of the tax to go back to the city of New Roads, but now the tax can go into effect as originally proposed.
