NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) -

A man was in court on Monday morning, accused of stealing from a benefit over the weekend.

James Hill is accused of receiving stolen property and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Hill is accused of taking items from the Autism Sings Kentucky benefit for Autism Speaks.  It was held Saturday night at the Thompson House.

Witnesses say Hill was slashing drum heads, stealing musical instruments and hiding them in bushes.

Hill was released from jail on his own recognizance.
