Released by the Palestine Police Department:
On July 27, 2013 shortlybefore 01:00am officers from the Palestine Police Department responded to apossible kidnapping. Police received a 911 call in which a female alleged thata man had been taken at gunpoint and was being held in a truck against hiswill. The caller gave the police dispatcher the information on the truck and adescription of the offenders.
Palestine Policelocated the truck on Loop 256 near Spring St. After some investigation policearrested three men. Those arrested were 59 year old Jerry Dyches, 40 Year oldScott Kindle and 36 year old Danny Smith. All three men gave a Crockett, Texasaddress.
The initial policereport indicated that the victim advised that he went to a home located off FM 320in Anderson County. The victim told police that once he reached the residence,the three men came from behind a house and assaulted him. The victim claimedthat he was hit with a metal baseball bat, a metal flashlight and wasthreatened with a gun. It was also alleged that the victim was forced into atruck with the men and driven away from the scene. Palestine Police located thetruck and made the subsequent arrest.
All three men weretaken to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office for processing. The men will bebooked in on a charge of Aggravated Kidnapping which is a first degree felony.The punishment range for a first degree felony is from 5 years up life inprison. Mr. Kindle was also charged with the offense of aggravated assault witha deadly weapon. Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon is a second degreefelony and carries a punishment range of up to 20 years I prison.
The victim wastransported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center for treatment of hisinjuries. The victim's injuries were not life threatening.
Emergency crews have extinguished a fire at a convenience store on the west side of Longview.
