Heroin, firearms, $4K plus discovered, arrest warrant issued

DONALDSONVILLE, LA (WAFB) - A suspect is being sought after the Louisiana Narcotics agents, SWAT team, and the Ascension Parish Office joined together in a multi-operational investigation of a known heroin dealer in the Donaldsonville area.

Officials are looking for 31-year-old Kelly Derrell Jones of Donaldsonville, La. Investigators secured a search warrant for Jones' home, however, Jones was not in his residence at the time of the search.  A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

According to the office of the Louisiana State Police Superintendent, Col. Michael D. Edmonson, the investigation resulted in a seizure of $4,000 in cash, approximately 2 grams of heroin, 5 grams of marijuana, 5 firearms—in which, one was reported as stolen, and a host of prescription pills including 1.5 liters of pills with codeine.

Jones is being charged with the intent to distribute heroin, controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, possession of a stolen firearm, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, and several other charges.
