BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The remains of a Baton Rouge soldier missing since the Korean War have finally made their way home.

Sgt. Clement Thibodaux's remains were greeted by a full honor guard in New Orleans Friday morning and were escorted back to Baton Rouge.

The Patriot Guard escorted Sgt. Clement Thibodeaux Jr.'s remains to Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge.

He and his squad were captured back in 1950 while withdrawing from North Korea. Soldiers returned 60 years ago without Thibodeaux, telling Army officials he had died of malnutrition and pneumonia.

The U.S. Military used DNA to help identify his remains. Sgt. Thibodeaux Jr. will be buried in Church Point, LA next to his grandfather.
