BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Several leaders of the NAACP rallied on the steps of Baton Rouge City Hall Friday morning.
The gathering follows what the group calls controversial comments allegedly made by an assistant district attorney earlier this week. The group met with District Attorney Hillar Moore to express their concerns.
Most of the members at the rally were pastors and attorneys from the Baton Rouge area. Leaders said they would like the situation to be handled as soon as possible.
"If those statements are true, we call on the DA's office to terminate that employee immediately, unequivocal, because we need to deter anyone else from making those types of statements," said one of the men in attendance.
Andrew Nomura will have more on the story, including the district attorney's response, later in the day.
