Man accused of dropping off drugs to inmate in courtroom

FRANKLIN, LA (WAFB) - Investigators arrested a man suspected of sneaking drugs and tobacco to an inmate making a court appearance.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office reported Dennis Delasbour, 41, of Franklin, faces charges of distribution of marijuana and entering contraband into a penal facility. He was taken into custody Monday afternoon. No bond was set.

Detectives with the narcotics division said they recovered a package containing marijuana and tobacco from an inmate at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse on July 3. The inmate, Ivory Fine, was then arrested.

According to investigators, they used surveillance video showed Delasbour go into and out of the courtroom. They said they concluded Delasbour was the person who dropped off the package to Fine.

The investigation is ongoing.
