Baton Rouge leaders announce plan to clean low income areas

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Baton Rouge leaders, including Mayor Kip Holden, gathered to announce the beginning of a plan called Operation Restore Pride.

Valley Park is one of the areas where city crews will be cleaning up run down and overgrown yards, removing old vehicles and working with residents to beautify homes.

Holden said the idea behind the project is to try making progress in some of the lowest income areas of the city.

"This is really about taking care of communities, giving people a sense of pride and making things happen and remove the dangers that are lurking," he explained.

The Valley Park cleanup is in one of the eight regions of Baton Rouge the mayor's office has targeted for restoration.
