(FOX19) -

Finally, a little relief from the heat!

This weekend we are trading the 100 degree heat index values for some thunderstorm activity.

Look for increasing clouds today and scattered showers and storms to develop this afternoon. A slow-moving boundary will push south into the viewing area this afternoon, bringing showers and storms to the tristate.

Some of these storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds and heavy rain. Temperatures today will climb into the upper 80s.

It will still feel a bit muggy today and tomorrow, with the boundary hanging around. We'll also have to keep a slight chance of showers in the forecast for Sunday and Monday as well.
