Infrared cameras will detect vandals in Seneca Co. park

SENECA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Seneca County leaders are using technology to take on vandals targeting local parks.

Vandalism at the Steyer Nature Preserve spurred the Seneca County Park District to buy surveillance cameras to watch the trails, but that isn't the only possible use for the cameras.

The three infrared cameras will be able to capture any activity in the park overnight. They will also be mobile, so they can be moved to any new hot spots of activity.

Board members also feel the cameras can be used to keep track of how many visitors frequent the parks.

Once in place, administrators hope the cameras will help ensure a pleasant experience for park-goers.
