BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Two former Clerk of Court employees have been indicted by a grand jury on drug charges stemming from an incident involving seven kilograms of cocaine stolen from the evidence vault in December 2012.
William Colvin, 30, the son of Judge Kay Bates has been indicted on drug, malfeasance in office and obstruction of justice charges.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Colvin stole the cocaine then took the drugs the home he shared with his girlfriend 55-year-old Debra Bell. When Bell learned of the stolen cocaine she ended the relationship and moved out.
Bell has also been indicted on malfeasance in office charges.
Investigators say both Colvin and Bell have admitted to passing the cocaine on to others for sale in the Baton Rouge area.
No trial date has been set just yet.
