JACKSON, LA (WAFB) - The man arrested for dog theft after taking in a lost pup is scheduled to go on trial.
Kyle Holmes of Jackson, LA pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday to a charge of misdemeanor theft. A trial date is set for Dec. 9.
He said when the dog showed up in his yard in April he called the vet in his area to find out if it had been reported missing. It had no tags.
He added a post on Facebook got no response. His friend, Lori Williams, agreed to take the dog, and then allegedly sold it.
Holmes then learned the dog belonged to a Louisiana state trooper, who then allegedly threatened a bewildered Holmes in a phone message, before eventually getting his dog back.
