BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) - Deputies said an intensive investigation following an armed bank robbery led to the arrest of a suspect.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Torrell Tillman, 22, of Bayou Vista, was arrested late Monday night on a charge of armed robbery.
Investigators reported Teche Federal Bank in Bayou Vista was robbed Saturday around 8:30 a.m. They said the suspect walked up to a teller and demanded money. He reportedly claimed to have an explosive device.
Detectives said the robber grabbed about $2,400 in cash and ran out of the bank.
Through a two-day investigation, officials said Tillman was developed as a suspect. He was found at his home around 11:30 p.m. and taken to the Patterson Police Department, with assistance from its officers, where deputies with SMPSO arrested him.
Tillman was then taken to the parish jail. No bond is set.
The investigation is ongoing.
Authorities did not release details about how much, if any, of the money was located.
