CARVILLE, LA (WAFB) - There are 31 Louisiana families with a little something extra to celebrate this Fourth of July after getting a special delivery Thursday morning.
The 756th Area Support Medical Company of the Louisiana National Guard returned from Afghanistan.
Soldiers hugged and kissed their loved ones for the first time in nine months at their home base in Carville.
"This is definitely emotional, on a positive side of course," said Sgt. Megan Vicknair. "My first deployment, I came home a little early, so I didn't get this and I have plenty of family and this one here, to come home to, is definitely awesome. And, coming home on the Fourth of July couldn't be any better."
These soldiers ran two medical clinics in eight different locations throughout Afghanistan. The company commander added the mission went as planned with no injuries.
