Authorities said a 56-year-old convicted murderer suspected of improperly touching a 15-year-old girl in a sexual manner was arrested Tuesday night.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office said Gary Foret, also known as "Ace," of Bayou L'Ourse, is charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Deputies said the girl's father contacted them Saturday to report his daughter had been sexually assaulted by a guy named "Ace" after spending the night at his home.

They added the girl was supposed to spend the night at a friend's house, but ended up sleeping at Foret's. Investigators reported she was awoken by him as he was touching her.

Foret was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center. Bond has not been set.

The investigation is ongoing.

Officials added Foret is currently on parole from a conviction of second-degree murder in Jefferson Parish in 1975. They said he was originally sentenced to life in prison, but it was commuted to 60 years. He reportedly served about a third of that and was released.
