Pair arrested after heroin found during traffic stop

DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) -

Two people were arrested after heroin was found during a traffic stop on Friday afternoon in Dearborn County.

At about 12:30 p.m., an Indiana State Police trooper stopped a minivan for a minor traffic violation on Interstate 74.

The driver was identified as Arlin B. Martinez, 22, of Chicago.

During the course of the traffic stop, the troopers became suspicious of criminal activity and called for a K-9 unit. The K-9 indicated the presence of drugs

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded four kilos of heroin. Martinez and her passenger, Stephanie Arroyo, 19, of Berwyn, IL were taken into custody without incident. They were transported to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center and both are facing charges of Dealing in a Controlled Substance.
