Meth lab explosion destroys home

AMITE, LA (WAFB) - A meth lab explosion in Amite, LA destroyed a home and put the homeowner behind bars.

The explosion happened on June 11, 2013 on Old McMichael Road in Amite, La. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, the Tri-Parish Narcotics Task Force and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal joined the Amite Fire Department in the investigation.

During the investigation, officials say the homeowner, Jacob Cruse, 36, confessed that he was trying to manufacture meth when the explosion happened. The entire home was burned down.

Cruse was arrested June 25, 2013 and charged with simple arson and operation, creation, and possession of a clandestine lab.
