Firefighters battle grain elevator fire

WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Firemen in West Baton Rouge spent nearly three hours Tuesday fighting a fire at a grain elevator.

Officials say the fire started when part of a conveyor belt caught fire.

Crews had the fire under control in 15 minutes, but it took three hours to put out all the hot spots.

Several firefighters were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion.  No other injuries were reported.

The grain elevator has been closed for repairs for the last month and a half.
