Man killed in home explosion

PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) - A 48-year-old Ponchatoula man was killed Friday in an explosion at the home of his adopted father after an argument.

According to reports, Kirk Scioneaux had been fighting with his father over a home renovation project.  The father left the house and went shopping to attempt to defuse the situation.

Investigators believe Scioneaux spread an ignitable liquid throughout the home and started a fire, causing the explosion.  Scioneaux was thrown backward by the blast into the bedroom where his body was found.

The blast happened in the 41000 block of Renee Dr.
