Police arrest suspect wanted in shotgun shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting early Friday morning after receiving information from the public about his whereabouts.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers led detectives to a home on Plantation Drive Monday evening, where they found Steaphon Harris, 28.

The shooting happened near an apartment complex on North Marque Ann Drive near La Margie Avenue a little before 2 a.m. on June 21.

Investigators believe Harris, armed with a shotgun, walked up to the victim and started firing. Police said the 34-year-old victim tried to run, but was hit and fell. They added he may have been shot again while on the ground.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. His exact condition is unknown. The victim's name was not released.

Harris has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
