BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - State Police are investigating an odd incident at the State Capitol Wednesday.
A man showed up on the steps of the Capital Wednesday morning with a gun but wasn't detained, questioned or even identified.
Col. Mike Edmonson says the man in his 30's appeared just before noon with what officials thought was a hunting rifle and was pointing it at the Capitol windows.
A senate security officer went out, got the gun which was later identified as a BB gun. The man was released and left in a black Chrysler.
"We're going to look at surveillance videos, his identifications," State Trooper J.B. Slaton said. "Once we identify him, we need to question him, find out how he got there, why he got there and his reason for coming to the Capitol."
Governor Bobby Jindal was not at the Capitol at the time of the incident.
