3 teens arrested after dead kitten post on internet

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Three teenagers were taken into custody on 2nd degree animal cruelty charges after a Twitter post revealed possible animal abuse to a kitten.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department began receiving reports about a Twitter posting made by an area teen on Saturday about the possible beating and/or torture of a young cat.

The posting included photographs of an alive kitten and the pictures of the kitten after death, as well as comments concerning the incident.

The cat from the posting was found dead on the Lone Oak High School football field on Sunday evening. There was another dead cat found in close proximity to the first.

Deputies also recovered some evidence from the scene that would indicate the the deaths of the cats did in fact occur there. One of the items included an 11-pound rock with blood residue.

The cats were taken to a local veterinarian. The cause of death was determined to have been blunt force trauma, fractured leg, broken jaw, skull fracture, and other injuries. The vet indicated that there would have been suffering involved.

Three teenagers that were present during the incident at the Lone Oak Football field on Saturday with the cats were identified and interviewed, according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department.

All three teens were taken into custody on Wednesday. They were taken to an area juvenile detention facility.
