WALKER, LA (WAFB) -

The man accused of killing his unborn child and trying to kill his pregnant wife is scheduled for another court appearance Thursday.

A commission is expected to determine the sanity of Jeffery Reynolds of Walker during a hearing in a Livingston Parish courtroom. Reynolds is charged with first-degree feticide and second-degree attempted murder. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

He is accused of attacking his wife, Paula, last October. Although police have not released toxicology results, Reynolds has stated to the media he was high on synthetic drugs during the attack.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office reported Reynolds attacked his wife with a kitchen knife at their home. Investigators said he stabbed her in the abdomen and cut their baby out of her.

A trial date has not been set.
