Tigers, Sooners fans raise funds for tornado victims

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU and Oklahoma fans donated more than $14,000 to help with tornado relief efforts during the Super Regional.

The collection was twice as much as was collected during a 2012 fundraising effort at Tiger Stadium for Hurricane Isaac relief, and $5,000 more than a similar drive in 2011 at Alex Box to aid tornado victims.

"LSU fans literally had their wallets open this weekend as they stepped up to the gates of Alex Box Stadium," said Bobbi Zaunbrecher, executive director of the American Red Cross in South Louisiana.

The donations will help provide shelter, food, and relief supplies for residents as they continue to recover from last month's deadly tornadoes.
