BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Charges have now been formally filed against the man accused in the deaths of two men found inside a burning car nearly six years ago.
David Williams, 44, faces two counts of second-degree murder. He's suspected of killing Drexel Swayzer, 27, and Jamey Williams, 25, in September of 2007.
Their bodies were found behind the Mississippi River levee in Port Allen. Both had been shot.
Detectives believe the pair was shot in East Baton Rouge Parish and driven across the river to where their truck, with them in it, was set on fire.
A Crime Stoppers tip led investigators to Williams.
He was arrested in connection with the double murder in March 2010, just as he was being released from prison after a grand jury chose not to indict him on a rape charge.
