Deputies: Man in ski mask fatally shoots 19-year-old in vehicle

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Deputies are searching for the shooter in a homicide that happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday where a 19-year-old man was killed while sitting in a vehicle.

The homicide happened in the 1700 block of Jade Avenue, which is between Gardere Lane and Bluebonnet Blvd, off Burbank Drive.

One man was shot in the chest and one man was shot at but not injured. The victim, 19-year-old Franklin Ely Lara lived on Jade Avenue. Deputies found Lara with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Deputies say a man in a ski mask was seen in the vehicle with Lara. Reports are that the suspect fired another shot at a man that approached the vehicle, but missed.

The suspect was last seen running towards GSRI Avenue.
